Google Business Profile
Google Business Profile optimization
For a lot of local businesses, the Google Business Profile brings in more calls than the website does. We set yours up properly, keep it active, and fix the things that are quietly holding it back.
Why the profile matters
The map results sit above everything else
When someone searches for a service and a town, the map results appear above the regular search listings. A large share of what that generates never touches your website at all — they’re phone calls, direction requests and messages taken straight off the listing.
That makes the profile a channel in its own right, not a box you tick once when you start the business. It has categories, services, hours, photos, posts, questions and reviews, and every one of them is a field Google reads.
The three things Google weighs
Relevance
How closely the profile matches what someone searched for. This is the part you have the most control over: categories, services, the description, and what's on your website.
Distance
How far your business is from the person searching. You cannot change this one. Anyone who tells you they can rank you evenly across an entire county is selling you something.
Prominence
How well known the business is. Reviews, links, mentions elsewhere on the web, and your website's own standing all feed into it. This is the slowest to move and the hardest for a competitor to copy.
What we do
What’s included
One-time
Setup and cleanup
Category audit
Primary and secondary categories. This is the highest leverage field on the whole profile and the one we most often find set wrong.
Services and service areas
Every service you actually offer, listed and described, with the areas you actually cover.
Business description
Written to read like a business, not a keyword list.
Hours and attributes
Regular hours, holiday hours, and the details that cause a profile to show the wrong status.
Photos
A real, organised set, with the logo and cover image chosen deliberately rather than left to whatever was uploaded first.
Website link with tracking
So you can actually see what the profile sends you, separately from the rest of your traffic.
Duplicate listings
Found, reported and resolved. Two listings for one business split your reviews and your ranking signals.
Name, address and phone consistency
Checked against the places Google cross-references.
Monthly
Ongoing management
Posts
Published on a regular cadence so the profile doesn't look dormant.
Questions and answers
Seeded with the questions customers actually ask, and monitored, because anyone on the internet can answer them otherwise.
Review responses
Every review answered, including the bad ones.
Photo refresh
New work added as it happens.
Edit monitoring
The public can suggest changes to your listing, and Google sometimes accepts them without telling you. We watch for it.
Monthly reporting
Calls, direction requests, website clicks and the searches people used to find you.
Some businesses need the first list and nothing else. We’ll tell you which one you are.
The part most people get wrong
A word about the business name field
Putting keywords into the business name field works, briefly. It is also a direct violation of Google’s guidelines, it is the single easiest thing for a competitor to report you for, and it is a fast route to a suspended profile.
A suspended profile takes weeks to get reinstated, and sometimes doesn’t come back. We don’t do it. If a previous agency did it to your listing, undoing it is the first thing on our list.
Reviews
Reviews are the part you can’t shortcut
Review count, review recency and whether the owner responds all feed the prominence signal, and they’re also the first thing a human reads before deciding whether to call. There’s no way to optimise around a profile with four reviews from three years ago.
If getting reviews consistently is the problem, that’s a separate system and we build those too.
Who this is for
Who this is for
Local businesses that get found on a map — contractors and trades, home services, restaurants, and professional services with a local client base.
It works for businesses with a storefront customers visit, and for service-area businesses that travel to the customer and hide their address. The setup is different for each, and getting that choice wrong is a common reason a profile underperforms.
